AL-01 is a district in southwestern Alabama. It is mostly urban and consists of Washington, Mobile, Baldwin, Escambia, and Monroe counties. The district’s largest city is Mobile. It has a population of 704,457, and 67.41% of the population is white. 

The GOP has held the district in every House election since 1964. The district is not a swing district. 

The candidates running in this district are Robert Kennedy Jr. and Bradley Byrne. Kennedy is the Democratic candidate who was also in the 2017 special election for election to the U.S. Senate from Alabama but has never held elected office. Byrne is the Republican incumbent who was first elected to the House in a special election in 2013 after the resignation of Representative Jo Bonner and has served three terms.
