AL-04 is a northern district in Alabama. It is 34.62% urban and includes parts of the Decatur Metropolitan Area as well as many northern counties in the state. It has a population of 683,273, and 88.36% of the population is white. The district has voted for the Republican party in recent congressional and presidential elections. 

The candidates running in this district are Lee Auman and Robert Aderholt. Auman is the Democratic candidate who defeated Rick Neighbors in the Democratic primary. He has worked with children and the special needs community and managed the conference center at Camp McDowell, where he worked with adults and children of all abilities. Aderholt is the Republican incumbent who was first elected to the House in 1996. He has also served on the staff of Alabama Governor Fob James.
