This district includes much of inner Phoenix and the eastern part of Glendale. This is the least educated in Arizona with only 13% of the population over 25 years having a Bachelor’s degree and 56% of the whole population is Hispanic. The seventh district is a liberal stronghold with the Democratic house candidate winning at least 70% of the vote since the district boundaries were redrawn before the 2012 election. Incumbent Ruben Gallego is a first generation American of Mexican and Colombian descent as well as a former marine. His desire to help other veterans motivated Gallego to initially run for office when he became a representative of the 7th district in 2014. He supports full legalization of marijuana. There is no GOP challenger in this district.
