Arizona’s ninth district contains much of eastern and southern Phoenix as well as Tempe and the East Valley. District nine has voted Democrat since redistricting in 2012. Congresswoman Kyrsten Sinema, who won 61% of the vote in 2016, is running for the Senate, leaving the ninth district open. Democrat Greg Stanton will be running against Republican Steve Ferrara. Stanton is a believer in climate change who cares about helping Arizonans get better access to healthcare, free pre-d, and debt free college. Ferrara was a navy physician who wants to protect veterans and improve America’s healthcare system by strengthening medicaid and protecting patients with pre-existing conditions.
