Located in northeastern Arkansas, this district’s population is 80% white, 17% black, and 2% hispanic. Though the district has elected a Democrat from 1990 to 2008, for the past four elections, they have elected the current incumbent, Rick Crawford (R), to office. He served in the US Army  from 1985-1989 before graduating from Arkansas State University in 1996 with a degree in Agriculture Business and Economics. This past term,  he was on  the Agriculture Committee, the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, and the Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence. Since his first victory, Crawford’s winning margin has only grown and in 2016, no Democrat ran against him. In this year’s election, his opponent is Chintan Desai (D), a who earned his bachelor degree in political science from the University of California, Davis in 2010.
