California’s 28th district is in Los Angeles County and includes Burbank, West Hollywood, and parts of LA, including Hollywood, Echo Park, Silver Lake, and Los Feliz. It also has the largest Armenian-American population of any district in the country. It has been represented by Democrat Adam Schiff since 2013; prior to redistricting, Schiff represented the 27th district from 2001 to 2003 and the 29th District from 2003 to 2013. He is currently the Ranking Member of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence. Schiff is being challenged by Republican businessman, consultant, and ardent rider of the “Trump Train” Johnny Nalbandian, whose website refers to him as “Uncle Johnny” and “Mr. Seafood.” In this district, Obama received 72.6% of the two-party vote in 2012, Schiff received 76.5% of the two-party vote in 2014, Clinton received 76.4% of the two-party vote in 2015, and Schiff received 78.0% of the two-party vote in 2016.
