This district is based in Long Beach, reaches into the western Orange County cities of Garden Grove, Westminster, Stanton, Los Alamitos, and Cypress, and includes Catalina Island. The candidates are Democrat incumbent Alan Lowenthal and Republican John Briscoe. In 2012, Obama won with 60% of the vote. In 2014, Alan Lowenthal won with 56% of the vote. In 2016, he won again with 63.7% of the vote.
