California's 8th congressional district is one of the state's largest and most sparsely populated district, containing the states easternmost desert regions, and thin counties like Mono, Inyo, and parts of San Bernardino. The race is between Republican incumbent Paul Cook, who has been in power since 2013, and another Republican, Tim Donnelly.  In this district, the presidential election of 2012 results were in favor of Romney by 9.11%, the house election results in 2014 were in favor of Paul Cook by 14.65%, the presidential election results in 2016 were in favor of Trump by 9.12%, and the house election results of 2016 were in favor of Cook by 12.87%.
