Colorado's 2nd district is 81.04% urban, consisting of several suburbs northwest of Denver. The district is almost entirely white (89.86%) with a smaller hispanic presence (10.53%).


The Democratic candidate is Joe Neguse, an attorney and the son of African refugees who has previously run unsuccessfully for Secretary of State of Colorado. The Republican candidate is Peter Yu, who left the marketing business to run for the House.


This district votes reliably for democratic candidates, with democratic congressional candidates winning by at least 10 percentage points in every election since 2000, and democratic presidential candidates winning by at least 15 percentage points in each of the last four presidential elections. The democratic candidate won by 19 points in the 2016 election, and this district voted in favor of Hillary Clinton over Trump by 21 points.
