This one is an almost Texas-shaped block in south-central Florida containing southern Sarasota, Charlotte, northern Lee, Glades, Highlands, Desoto, Hardee, Okeechobee, and southern Polk counties. All those counties listed are Republican, with average margins in previous presidential elections (2008 - 2016) anywhere from 7 to 35 points. Greg Steube, Esq. (R) is an airborne infantry officer and judge advocate general turned Florida state representative, elected in 2016. April Freeman (D) won the Democratic primary, but she unfortunately passed away on September 23, 2018. Her name will stay on the ballot, but a vote for her will be a vote for Allen Ellison (D), who has helped found different community engagement initiatives, namely The Community Economic Council and the Center for Economic & Policy Development.
