This district is located in south Florida and includes parts of Key West and the Everglades. The district is 86.3% white and 69.5% Hispanic. Carlos Curbelo, the Republican incumbent since 2015, is a Cuban-American from Miami. He serves on the House Ways and Means Committee and his priorities include criminal justice reform and an improved affordable health care system. His opponent, Debbie Mucarsel-Powell (D) immigrated from Ecuador when she was young. Her priorities include expanding access to health care in her district and bringing good-paying jobs to south Florida. Obama received 55.79% of the vote in 2012 and Hillary received 58.38% of the vote.
