District Profile Last Updated: Oct. 5, 2018, 11:47 a.m.

Georgia’s twelfth congressional district is located in east of the state, north of the first district. About half of the district is rural, with the other half being relatively small towns and suburbs of Savannah. The population of 719,970 (as of 2016) is 58% white. The district had leaned towards the Democrats for much of the past decade, but following redistricting in 2011, the district has swung to the right, with current incumbent Rick Allen defeating then-Democratic incumbent John barrow with a 10% margin in 2014. In 2016, Allen was reelected, carrying 60% of the vote. This year, Allen is opposed by Democrat Francys Johnson. However, the district is expected to swing Republican.
