Georgia’s eighth congressional district is located in the south of the state between the first and second districts. It is largely rural, but does contain part of Macon, as well as other smaller towns. The population of 710,108 (as of 2016) is about 63% white. The district has been solidly Republican for 10 years, with incumbent Austin Scott having won every election since 2010. This will be his third unopposed election in that span.
