Georgia’s ninth congressional district is located in the northeast corner of the state. It is somewhat rural, with a significant mix of towns and far-reaching Atlanta suburbs. The population of 736,075 (as of 2016) is over 87% white. The district has been solidly Republican since 2000 with conservative incumbent Doug Collins having won his last three elections with over 75% of the vote. This year, Democrat Josh McCall is challenging him, but the district is expected to remain solidly Republican.
