Idaho’s second district is comprised mostly of the Eastern half of the state, including the majority of the state’s largest city of Boise. 81.02% of the district’s population identifies as non-Hispanic white, 30.1% of the population holds a bachelor’s degree or higher, and the median household income is $51,294. This overwhelmingly right-leaning district has voted steadily Republican in all congressional and presidential elections since 1993. Republican incumbent and long-time politician Mike Simpson has been representing ID-02 since 1999. Aaron Swisher, an economist and author, is the Democratic candidate opposing Simpson.
