Indiana's 3rd congressional district covers the northeast corner of the state, containing the city of Fort Bend. It is solidly Republican: Trump won the district by 35 points in the last presidential election, though before that Democrats have fared better: Obama only lost by 13 points in 2008. Though some of the shift in 2016 towards Trump may be due to the fact that former Indiana governor Mike Pence was Trump's running mate, it is still possible that the district has recently shifted to the right.

First-term Republican incumbent Jim Banks is being challenged by Democrat Courtney Tritch, an entrepreneur and consultant.
