Indiana’s 8th district is a 58% rural, 94% white district located in Southwestern Indiana. It is solidly republican, having gone for McCain in 2012 and Trump in 2016. Republican candidates usually win this district by huge margins around 20-30%

The Democratic challenger is William Tanoos, a lawyer who aims to support the middle class by easing taxes and regulation on small businesses, while raising taxes on the wealthy and supporting protectionist trade policy.

The republican candidate is three term incumbent is Larry Bucshon. Larry Bucshon supports increased privatization in the healthcare system and preserving coal mining jobs. He is a pro-life and gun rights advocate.
