Indiana’s 9h district is located in south-central Indiana. It contains the Indiana side of the Louisville metropolitan area and some outer suburbs of Indianapolis. This district is solidly republican, having gone for McCain in 2012 and Trump in 2016. This is a solid republican district, where republicans have won since 2010 by margins greater than 10%.
The Democratic candidate is challenger is Liz Watson, a proud progressive who supports universal healthcare, expanded addiction services to combat the opioid crisis, fighting climate change, and LGBTQ rights. She has received endorsements from many labor unions and progressive groups. 
The Republican is incumbent Trey Hollingsworth. Hollingsworth is a christian conservative who believes in small government.
