Iowa’s second congressional district is located in the southeastern part of the state. It is 66% urban and 93% white non hispanic. 
This district went for Obama in 2012 and Trump in 2016. The democrats have controlled this state since 2006 and have recently been winning by margins of around 6%.
The Democratic candidate is incumbent Dave Loebsack, running for his seventh term. Loebsack supports small businesses protecting social security, and increasing transparency in washington. 
The Republican challenger is Dr. Christopher Peters. This is Peters’ second attempt at challenging Loebsack for this seat; the first being his campaign in 2016. Peters is a strong fiscal conservative who supports lower taxes, lower spending, and more privatization in health care.
