Iowa’s third congressional district is located in the southwestern part of the state. It is 73% urban and 92% white non hispanic. 
This district went for Obama in 2012 and Trump in 2016. This district has been controlled by republicans since 2012, winning by margins of 10% or more. 
The Democratic candidate is challenger Cindy Axne, a small business owner and community activist who has not held political office before. She supports small businesses, raising wages, increased access to healthcare, and bipartisan immigration reform. 
Republican incumbent David Young is running for his third term. David Young is a centre-right Republican.
