The second district of Maryland is comprised of Anne Arundel, Baltimore, Harford and Howard counties. The district also houses part of the city of Baltimore. Voters have leaned Democrat in the past five presidential elections. Incumbent Dutch Ruppersberger (Democrat) is running against Liz Matory (Republican). Guy Mimoun, Green Party, and Michael Carney, Libertarian, are also running. Ruppersberger has been the representative for Maryland's second district since 2003. Before entering the Congress, he worked as Maryland's Assistant State Attorney, as well as a member of the Baltimore City Council and a Baltimore County Executive. His opponent, Liz Matory, has experience as a small business owner and wrote the book "Born Again Republican."
