Massachusetts’ third congressional district is in the central north part of the state. The district has voted for Democratic representatives since 1997. In the past three presidential elections, the Democratic candidate received the majority vote, with Democrats receiving 58.8% in 2008, 56.9% in 2012, and 58.2% in 2016. Lori Trahan (D) is the Democratic nominee as 5 year-incumbent Niki Tsongas has chosen against re-election. Trahan is the CEO of Concire Leadership Institute. Her opponent is former NASA employee Rick Green (R), who owns the business 1A Auto along with his brother.
