Massachusetts’ sixth district is the northernmost district that contains most of Essex County and some of Middlesex County. The district has been represented by Democratic House representatives since 1997. In the past three presidential elections, the Democratic candidate had the majority vote, with Democrats receiving 56.9% in 2008, 54.7% in 2012, and 56.1% in 2016. Incumbent Seth Moulton (D) is running against Joseph Schneider (R). Moulton is an Iraq War veteran who entered politics when he was elected as congressman in 2014. Schneider is a native Romanian, an Army veteran, and the founder of JSA International.
