Massachusetts’ seventh district is located in the eastern part of the state, encompassing parts of Middlesex, Suffolk, Norfolk, and roughly half of Boston. The district has voted for Democratic representatives since 1923. In the past three presidential elections, the Democratic candidate consistently received a large majority vote, with Democrats receiving 81.9% in 2008, 82.5% in 2012, and 84.1% in 2016. Ayanna Pressley (D) is running unopposed after defeating incumbent Michael Capuano in the Democratic primaries. She is the first woman of color elected to the Boston City Council, on which she has served since 2010.
