Massachusetts’ eighth district is located in the eastern part of the state, including roughly half of Boston and the counties of Bristol, Norfolk, Plymouth, and Suffolk. The district has been represented by Democratic congressmen since 1955. For the past three presidential elections, the Democratic candidate received the majority vote, with Democrats receiving 57.9% in 2008, 57.8% in 2012, and 60.4% in 2016. Stephen Lynch (D) is the unopposed incumbent candidate, who first represented district nine in 2001, and was redistricted to represent district eight from 2013 onwards. He is the most conservative congressman in Massachusetts and is the co-founder of the Congressional Labor and Working Families Caucus.
