Michigan’s tenth congressional district is located in the eastern region of Michigan’s lower peninsula and includes St. Clair, Huron, Lapeer, and Sanilac counties as well as parts of Macomb and Tuscola counties. The district population is around 90% White, 3% Black, 1% Asian, and 3% Hispanic. This district has voted Republican for most of its elections with the exception of two Democrats in the past 40 years. It voted for Trump 64-32% in 2016, for Romney (R) 55-44% in 2012, and McCain 50-48% in 2008.
The candidates running in this election are incumbent Paul Mitchell (R), first elected in 2016, and Kimberly Bizon (D). Mitchell graduated from Michigan State University in Lansing with a Bachelor's and has previously served on the St. Clair, Michigan, City Council. Bizon is a St. Clair County native and considers herself a longtime environmental activist, advocating for renewable energy and federal investment in infrastructure.
