 Michigan’s twelfth district is located in the southeastern region of the lower peninsula and includes parts of Washtenaw and Wayne counties. The district has Democrat since 1965. In the recent presidential elections, it has voted 61% for Clinton in 2016 and 66% and 65% for Obama in 2012 and 2008, respectively.

The candidates running are Debbie Dingell (D) and Jeff Jones (R). Dingell has served as president of the General Motors Foundation; she as also held other senior executive positions at GM. She is also the wife of John Dingell (D), the former 2014 representative of Michigan’s 12th. Jeff Jones also sought election in 2016, running under the campaign themes of economic revitalization, health care, immigration reform, and more.
