Michigan’s sixth congressional district is located in the southwest corner of Michigan. The district is 82% White, 8% Black, and 5% Hispanic. Like, MI-04, the district has voted Republican in every election in the past two decades except for in 2008 when they voted for Obama. Fred Upton has won the 2012, 2014, and 2016 elections with 55%, 56%, and 59% of the vote respectively. The candidates running in this election are Upton (R) and Matt Longjohn(D). Upton has been the representative since 1992. Longjohn had previously served as the National Health Officer for the YMCA. Our fundamental-only model predicts a Republican win.
