Michigan’s eighth congressional district is located in southeastern Michigan. The district is 84% White and 6% Black. Like MI-07, the district has voted Republican except for 2008 where they voted for Obama. Mike Rogers won the 2012 election with 59% of the vote and Mike Bishop won the 2014 and 2016 elections with 55% and 56% of the vote. The candidates running in this election are Bishop (R), the incumbent, and Elissa Slotkin (D). Bishop was a legal officer while Slotkin was a national security official who worked for both the Bush and Obama administrations. Our fundamental-only model predicts a Republican win.
