Missouri’s third congressional district surrounds St. Louis. It is located in the eastern/central portion of the state. Representative Blaine Luetkemeyer (R) has been in office since 2013 and the district switched from solidly Democrat to solidly Republican after it was redrawn in 2012. The exclusion of all of St. Louis from this district and the inclusion of more rural areas led to its shift from a Democratic stronghold to a Republican one. Luetkemeyer won by a 41.2% margin over his Democratic challenger in the 2014 election. Newcomer Katy Geppert (D) will be challenging Luetkemeyer for the seat.
