Missouri’s fourth congressional district consists of much of west and central Missouri. Representative Vicky Hartzler (R) has been in office since 2011, winning by a 41.7% margin over her Democratic challenger in 2014. Due to Missouri’s rapid population shift in 2010, the fourth district was redrawn to exclude urban areas, which were incorporated into the fifth district. 34-year incumbent Ike Skelton (D) was defeated due to the rapid change in the makeup of the district. Local business owner Renee Hoagenson (D) will be challenging Hartzler for her seat.
