Nebraska's 2nd Congressional district is 97.86% urban and 34.79% rural. The district is 81.6% White, 10.9% Hispanic, 9.8% Black, and 3.1% Asian. The Democratic Kara Eastman defeated candidate Brad Ashford in the Democratic primary by a slim 3 percentage points. Ashford was the representative for this district from 2015 to 2017. Republican candidate and incumbent Don Bacon succeeded Ashford. Since the 2000 presidential election, this district has voted Republican by at least a 15% margin. In the House elections, this district voted reliably Republican, however, recently, this trend has faltered.
