District Profile Last Updated: Oct. 5, 2018, 11:47 a.m.

Nevada’s 2nd congressional district is a district that appears rural but in reality dominated by a few cities. Nevertheless, the district remains solidly republican, as it has been held by the Republicans since its creation and voted Republican in every presidential election since before Reagan. It contains Lyon, Churchill, Douglas, Elko, Eureka Humboldt, Lander, Pershing, Storey, and Washoe (Reno, Sparks, Carson cities) Counties. For the 2018 house race, the incumbent is republican Mark Amodei, who has held the seat since 2011 for 4 terms, won the election in 2016 by over 21 points, and has previously served in the Nevada Assembly from 1997 to 1999 in the Nevada senate. His opponent is democrat Clint Koble, who is a farmer and small business owner.
