New Jersey 12 is located in the central region of the state, and its population is 75% White, 12% Black, 9% Asian, and 6% Hispanic. Democrats have won this state since 2000. In this election, the incumbent from 2014 and 2016 is Bonnie Watson Coleman (D), and her opponent is Daryl Kipnis (R). Watson Coleman received a bachelor's degree from Thomas Edison State College. She later represented the 15th legislative district in the New Jersey General Assembly from 1998-2015. In Congress, she was on the Committee on Homeland Security and the Committee on Oversight and Government Reform. Daryl Kipnis earned his bachelor's degree from Rutgers University and his juris doctor from Seton Hall University. He has previously run for the New Jersey State Senate in 2017.
