New Jersey’s 6th district is located in Eastern New Jersey. It contains parts of Middlesex and Monmouth County. The district has voted Democratic in congressional elections since 1982 and in recent presidential elections. The Republican candidate has received at least 55% of the two-party vote for the past nine congressional elections. The district is 99.76% urban. Its population is 67.5% Caucasian, 16.8% African American, 8.4% Asian, 11.7% Hispanic, 0.2% Native American, and 3.4% other. 

The incumbent for this race is Democrat Frank Pallone Jr. Pallone has served in congress since 1991. Prior to position as a congressman, he served as a member of the New Jersey Senate. His key issues include civil rights, renewable energy, and gun control. The Republican candidate is Richard J. Pezzullo. He works to inform New Jersey citizens about tax issues and has participated in non-profit work for the past twenty years. His key issues include ending government spying, preserving the second amendment, and supporting pro-life choices.
