New Mexico’s first congressional district is made up of central New Mexico. It is made up of Torrance and Bernalillo counties. It includes a majority of Albuquerque. Debra A. Haaland is running in the Democratic seat and Janice E. Arnold Jones is running in the Republican seat. Haaland is running on a platform of gender equality and universal medical care. Arnold-Jones supports growing NM industries. The seat has gone to the democrats in the last 5 elections. In the 2016 presidential election Hilary Clinton won 59.7% of the two-party vote.
