District Profile Last Updated: Oct. 5, 2018, 11:47 a.m.

New York district 14 contains sections of the Bronx and Queens. It is nearly 50% hispanic. It voted 81% and 77% Democratic in the 2012 and 2016 presidential elections, respectively, and has been represented by Democrats for decades. In this election, non-incumbent Democrat Socialist Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez will be running against Anthony Pappas, a conservative Republican whose platform is centered around disempowering the judicial system. Ocasio-Cortez defeated incumbent Joseph Crowley in a highly-publicized Democratic primary earlier this year by a margin of 13%. Crowley won in 2016 with 83% of the vote.
