New York District 24, bordered to the north by Lake Ontario, is mostly rural but contains the city of Syracuse as well. This district is 85.7% White, 8.2% Black, 2.2% Asian, and 3.9% Hispanic. Republican incumbent John Katko is running against Democratic challenger Dana Balter. 58.1% of the district voted Democratic in the 2012 presidential election and 51.91% voted Democratic in the 2016 presidential election.
