Ohio District 5 is mostly urban(62.27% urban, 37.73% rural) and almost entirely white(92%). It has been represented by a Republican since 1939. The Republican candidate, Bob Latta, is an incumbent who has held office since 2007. The Democrat candidate is J. Michael Galbraith, a professor of finance at Bowling Green University. In the 2014 Congressional election, Bob Latta won 69.8% of the two-party vote in this district. In the 2016 Presidential election, Donald Trump won 63.3% of the two-party vote in this district.
