Ohio District 9 is mostly urban(86.02%) and mostly white(73.04%). It has been represented by a Democrat since 1939. The Democratic candidate Marcy Kaptur, is an incumbent who has held office since 1983. The Republican candidate is Steven Kraus. He was indicted on felony charges of burglary, breaking and entering, and theft in 2015. In the 2014 Congressional election, Marcy Kaptur won 67.7% of the two-party vote in this district. In the 2016 Presidential election, Hillary Clinton won 61.7% of the two-party vote in this district.
