Oklahoma’s second congressional district covers the east side of the state. It is 35.51% urban with a population of 690,131. 71.1% of the population is white, with a median income of $27,885.


Historically, Oklahoma’s second district has voted strictly Republican since the late 20th century until present, including the 2016 election. The district is not a swing district.


The democratic candidate is Jason Nichols. Nichols’ goals include improving health care, protecting veterans, Social Security and investing in infrastructure.  The republican candidate is the incumbent Markwayne Mullin, who has served three terms in office. Mullin owns several businesses and is most invested in improving energy policy, reforming healthcare and the tax code, and having a strong national defense.
