Oregon 1 is in the northwest corner of the state. It also contains Portland, the state’s largest city. The race makeup is 80% white, 1.6% black, and 6.9% Asian.

In 2016, incumbent Suzanne Bonamici (D) defeated Brian Heinrich (R) by a margin of 22.6%. A similar election, where Suzanne Bonamici won as incumbent, occurred here in 2014, as she has been in office since a special election in early 2012. (The previous representative resigned). The current running candidates are Suzanne Bonamici (D) and John Verbeek (R).
