Pennsylvania’s new 12th congressional district contains a number of small towns that lean Republican such as Mansfield, Towanda, and Lewistown, Williamsport which is a city that also leans Republican, and State College which contains Pennsylvania State University and a number of Democratic voters. Approximately 60% of the population lives in rural areas. It is similar to the old district 10 geographically and almost identical politically. Tom Marino is a republican incumbent from old district 10 which was similar this district. He is an average Republican congressman in terms of politics and about 67 years old. His opponent is Marc Friedenberg who is a younger democratic cyber security law expert.
