Pennsylvania’s new 14th congressional district covers the area to the south of and around Pittsburgh and approximately 33.14% of the population lives in rural areas. It is very similar to the old district 18 but by no longer including part of Pittsburgh it is even more Republican. The Democratic candidate is Bibiana Boerio. She is an educator and businesswoman from the region with the goals of improving the economy and quality of life. Her opponent is Guy Reschenthaler, a Republican former attorney and judge who also used to be a senator. He aims to improve education and decrease the role of government.
