District Profile Last Updated: Oct. 5, 2018, 11:47 a.m.

Though Pennsylvania’s new 8th congressional different looks geographically different from the pre-redistricting district 10, both districts favored Trump by 10 points in the 2016 election. Like its predecessor, the new district contains a segment of the northeastern part of the state, including both Democrat and Republican leaning areas, but it has migrated further North. District 10 incumbent Matt Cartwright (D) (who has held office since 2013) is running for re-election in new D8 after working on bipartisan legislation in the house. Republican challenger John Chrin is an investment advisor who emphasizes education and job creation.
