District Profile Last Updated: Oct. 5, 2018, 11:47 a.m.

Pennsylvania’s new 9th congressional district, which takes up much of eastern PA, is most similar to the old district 11 after the 2018 redistricting. However, it leans more conservative- it no longer contains any major cities, and would’ve voted for Trump by 34 points as opposed to the previous district’s 24 points in the 2016 election. Previous incumbent Lou Barletta is now the Republican nominee for Pennsylvania senate. Taking his place as Republican candidate for D9 is Dan Meuser, a businessman who has experience in local government. His Democratic opponent is Denny Wolff, a 5th-generation dairy farmer who also served as a political appointee under a Democratic governor.
