This northwestern district borders North Carolina and includes the two major cities of Greenville and Spartanburg, making it the state’s wealthiest and most conservative district. In the 2016 presidential election, Trump won this district by 63.6%. The population is 74.8% white and 7.4% Hispanic. This is an open seat where Republican candidate William Timmons, who has worked as a prosecutor and is a member of the South Carolina State Senate, will be facing Democratic candidate Brandon Brown. Timmons supports Trump’s efforts to limit illegal immigration, rebuild the military, and cut taxes. He is also pro-life, a supporter of the Second Amendment, and advocates for government transparency. Brown is opposed to tariffs and supports gun control.
