Texas 16th Congressional District is a small block on the westernmost part of Texas. It contains the city El Paso. It is a very Democrat-leaning district and 81.03% Hispanic. The median income is $44,045.
The past four Representatives have been democrats. The most recent incumbent, Beto O'Rourke, ran unopposed in 2016 and won with 68% of the vote in 2014. He is seeking election to the Senate this year.
The Democratic candidate is Veronica Escobar. She was a county judge before retiring to run in this election. If elected, she would be the first Latina to represent Texas in Congress.
