Texas 18th Congressional District is 99.94% urban, 41.78% hispanic, and has a median income of $42,662. The current incumbent has been in office since 1995. The democratic incumbent running for reelection is Sheila Jackson Lee, who started her political career as a municipal judge and then a city council member before getting elected into the house. She won 74% of the vote in 2016 and 72% in 2014. The republican nominee is Ava Pate, a cosmetologist from Austin, Texas.
