Texas 21st Congressional District is 78.15% urban, 61.78% white, 30.23% hispanic, and has a median income of $68,987. The current incumbent was first elected in 1986, but is now retiring. He had won 57 % of the vote in 2016 and ran unopposed in 2014. This year, the republican nominee is Chip Roy, who was Ted Cruz’s chief of staff and Rick Perry’s senior adviser. The democratic nominee is Joseph Kopser, a US army veteran and president of the Grayline Group.
